CARMAX WINS TORCH AWARD FOR MARKETPLACE ETHICS FROM CHICAGO AND NORTHERN ILLINOIS BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU

RICHMOND, Va. (November 29, 2007) - CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX), the nation's largest retailer of used cars, has won the Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics from the Chicago and Northern Illinois Better Business Bureau (BBB). The Chicago and Northern Illinois BBB Torch Award honors businesses that conduct their activities in an exceedingly high ethical manner. The BBB publicly recognizes these businesses to inform consumers of ethical standards within these companies.

"CarMax is honored to have received the prestigious Torch Award." said Tom Vicini, vice president of the Central region of CarMax. "Integrity and honesty can be seen each day in the car buying experience we provide and actions of our associates. Our associates’ unwavering commitment to our customers and each other is what sets CarMax apart."

CarMax has six stores in the Greater Chicago area. They are located in Glencoe, Hillside, Naperville, Oak Lawn, Schaumburg, and Tinley Park.

CarMax understands that being a responsible business includes giving back to the local community. In June, CarMax associates at the Schaumburg store held a blood drive with the Lifesource Blood Center and associates from the Oak Lawn CarMax held another blood drive in July with the American Red Cross. In addition, associates from five Chicago CarMax locations showed their support by participating in the local Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K Walk for the second consecutive year. This year, more than 250 associates and their families walked along the Lake Michigan shore line to raise money for breast cancer research.

CarMax offers consumers a no-hassle, no-haggle car-buying experience and a broad selection of high-quality used vehicles. CarMax guarantees the quality of its cars, does not sell flood- or frame-damaged vehicles, and guarantees a clean title and accurate odometer readings on its cars. All vehicles are thoroughly inspected and reconditioned, and CarMax offers a five-day, money-back guarantee and a limited 30-day warranty.
